CSE 5802/5402/4403 Projects in Intrusion Detection, Adaptive Personalized Web, and Device Monitoring

Capable and motivated students are seeked to participate in research on using data mining methods for intrusion detection, web personalization, and device monitoring. The main goal of the projects is, to develop algorithms for building models that can detect novel attacks, identify user interests on the web, and detect unknown failures.

According to the students' preferences, students will be assigned tasks related to the research projects. Evaluation is based on the level of accomplishment of these tasks and the final report. Graduate and undergraduate students are welcome.

Prerequisities:

  1. Willing to learn and solve complex problems
  2. Proficient in problem solving via programming
  3. Proficient in data structures and algorithms
  4. Proficient in operating systems concepts
  5. Proficient in basic probability and statistics

Preferred knowledge includes:

  1. Proficient in machine learning and data mining
  2. Proficient in computer networks and distributed computing
