Information and Registration for the Computer Science Comprehensive Exam
Department of Computer Sciences
This WWW document contains information about the written exams taken by
Master's students in the Computer Science programs at Florida Tech.
These includes not only the students at the main campus,
but also those at Orlando, the Kennedy Space Center,
Patrick Air Force Base as well.
These students should consider carefully the
information contained here and
register for the written exams using the WWW form below.

Comprehensive Examination Schedule
The comprehensive examination is offered about the tenth week of classes
every Fall and Spring semester.
Area exams are offered on two consecutive Thursdays and Fridays.
The schedule for the area exams is given below:
- First Thursday:
- 10:00 am - 11:30 am, Operating Systems
- 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, Lunch Break
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, Computer Networks
- 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm, Computer Architecture
- First Friday:
- 10:00 am - 11:30 am, Software Engineering
- 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, Lunch Break
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, Programming Languages
- 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm, Compilers
- Second Thursday:
- 10:00 am - 11:30 am, Computer Graphics
- 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, Lunch Break
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, Database Systems
- 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm, Artificial Intelligence
- Second Friday:
- 10:00 am - 11:30 am, Analysis of Algorithms

The Fall 2009 Exam is scheduled for Oct 22 & 29, and Oct 23 & 30 .
in the Conference Rooms (239/240), second floor, Olin Engineering Complex.
The deadline for signing up is
Friday October 16th, 2009.
SEGS students take the exam at their site and
should contact their Program Director for scheduling information.
Registration Form
Registration will be activated before the end of the second week
of each term.
To take the exam, students must register at least two weeks prior
the scheduled date of the exam.
Use the form below or contact the
Department of Computer Sciences Student Office,
in the Olin Engineering Complex room 253.
Master's students must be in their last term as a full-time student to
register and have a 3.0 GPA.
Ph.D. students must have the permission of their committee to register for
their breadth examination.
Registration for the Fall 2007 comprehensive examination will be
activated by the end of the second week each term.
To register for the comprehensive examination,
students must
